REMINDER: Meetings for January 3rd to February 7th – will be held at the Canboro Grill in Fenwick.
President’s Updates:
Congratulations to Frank Adamson who has been nominated for the position of District Governor.
International Convention – five people attending, please sign up asap. Paul S has agreed that the money allocated in the budget for the President to attend the conference will be distributed to all attendees.
Canada Day – there are just 193 planning days left until the big event. Town of Pelham appreciates the involvement of Rotary and the events planned from 1 – 5 p.m. 11, 000 attended. Attendance drops as soon as children’s area closes – town would like to know if we wish to extend our hours. This raises the concern of costs and volunteer availability. Lance asked if we have any new ideas or anyone wishes to volunteer to join him.
Goals – we are aiming for a presidential citation. As part of this Rotary International wants every Rotarian to plant a tree prior to April 22/18. Can we collaborate with Crossley and do something in honour of Sharon Keller. Ann H to connect to Pat and to Karen Simpson and Karen Chcoski at Crossley to review options.
Fall grant proposal – need to submit this early in the new year – discussion ensued of potential again to combine with Crossley to do a lasting memorial.
Fitness Trail – we have committed to working collaboratively with MYAC, Earlyact, Interact, Rotaract and Wellspring to support this multiyear plan for support. Cost will come to $5,000 per year for five years.
Bob will be examining refreshing the signage along the Steve Bauer Trail.
New signs are now at the entries to the Town.
Fireside Chat followup – Paul S distributed committee lists, history of town for all to review. Paul emphasized the importance of everyone volunteering, participating and helping each other out. There are lots of opportunities for leadership roles. As an example we are currently seeking a President Elect for the coming year.
Thanks to Barb who is now the International Grants Chair.
PODS –Pod leaders need to ensure that all jobs are covered – as well we need to ensure that everyone is involved in Classifications and mini-classifications.
Grants Updates:
Niagara Peninsula Homes has purchased the computers – we promised to be involved in supporting training – Adam Rempel of Pen Financial is already connected.
Future Grant – possible connection with Interact at Crossley to do a longer term commitment. We can get up to $4,000 US. The money would be available in the fall but grant idea needs to be in sooner – some ideas discussed include Camp, Environmental initiative, joint with Rotaract.
My Pelham.com – we are now members and need to ensure we provide regular updates – need to review our plan for this.
