Dr. Hector Perez

Canadian Research on Dementia and Missing Persons

Dec. 10, 2025 7:30 a.m.

Dr. Hector Perez

Topic: Canadian Research on Dementia and Missing Persons

Presentation: Canadian Research on Dementia and Missing Persons: What We’ve Learned
Dr. Hector Perez will be presenting Canadian research on missing persons living with dementia. He and his team at the University of Waterloo analyzed more than 70 risk factors and over 500 real-life missing incidents to better understand why people with dementia sometimes go missing and what can be done to keep them safe. The research shows that while most are found unharmed, some face serious risks, especially those with fewer supports or more severe memory challenges. Join the presentation to learn more about how we can create safer environments and stronger support systems for individuals and families affected by dementia.
Bio:
Dr. Hector Perez holds a doctorate in Strategy and Technology Management and has over a decade of experience in project management, evaluation, and business analysis. He specializes in strategy formulation, execution, and evaluation, with extensive expertise in analyzing current and future demand trends and developing resource allocation studies for police services. He has extensive experience in teaching and research, having previously worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Waterloo, where he advanced studies on strategy, technology management, and organizational effectiveness. Hector is a member of the Academy of Management, the Project Management Institute, and the American and Canadian Societies of Evidence-Based Policing. As a leading voice in the field of strategy for police organizations, he currently serves as a Corporate Analyst with the Niagara Regional Police Service, contributing to evidence-based policing, strategic planning, and organizational development.

Cornhole Fundraiser Planning Committee
Feb. 19, 2026 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
All members and interested volunteers are invited to join the Rotary/Food4Kids CornHole committee on Thursday February 19th at 4pm to help plan our second annual Niagara CornHole Fundraising Tournament.

The meeting will be held at the Food4Kids office at:

113-115 Cushman Road #27A
St. Catharines, ON L2M 6S9

Our objective of this meeting is to layout the game plan, target our markets and assign responsibilities. You don’t need any experience but we will ask you to pitch-in on some level to help secure sponsorships, solicit local businesses and associations to participate and to assist in organizing on the day of the event.

This has become an important fundraiser for the club. It is also a great opportunity for new members to get involved by bringing your ideas, knowledge and expertise to the table to help make this a successful project.

Please let me know that you will be attending. Thank you.

Yours in Rotary,
Paul Snack
