Frank reminded everyone of the event this coming Saturday, October 19th.  The members helped to pack the thank you bags which have items from Kame and Kettle and White Meadows.  Silent auction items including a painting by Annette Steele of the arches will be available.  There will be music, food and further auction items. Frank is still looking for someone to be a bartender.

Bandshell Presentation
Our guest speaker today was club member, Carolyn Mullin of the Bandshell Committee.  Carolyn shared with us the story of the creation of the Bandshell for Fonthill's 150th celebration in 2006.  At that stage, the structure was the focus of much activity on the day of celebrations.  Following this, conversation led to how to make use of the Bandshell on an on-going basis.  The idea of a summer concert series was developed and now this is linked to the Farmer's market and the Suppermarket.  This coming summer will be the 15th season.

Over the course of all of the years, the Bandshell and the concert series has relied on the hard work of a small committee of volunteers and the generosity of numerous community donors.  The Rotary Club of Fonthill has always been supported of efforts to fund the construction of the Bandshell, the purchase of sound equipment as well as sponsoring evening concerts.

Recently, as the popularity of the concerts has increased, and with the passage of time, there is a need for a restoration and revitalization of the area around the Bandshell.

Carolyn and Annie shared flyers and maps of the area describing the changes which are already underway.  These changes will allow for a flatter area for seating and increased accessibility.  As the Bandshell has always operated within the limits of its sponsorships and donations, there is no capital for such work.  The Town of Pelham has provided the up front financing while a fundraising campaign has begun.  Carolyn shared the plans and finances involved and made a general plea to members to consider this opportunity to support a local initiative.

The Members thanked Carolyn for her presentation.

The club moved that the speaker's gift, normally given to the library, be given this week to the Bandshell Committee.  Motion: Hugh, Seconded: Mel, carried.
