Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

5.    Invocation: Paul Snack

6.    President’s Report/Correspondence/Announcements:
a)    Director for International – Hugh introduced this for consideration.  We do not have a person for this position.  This individual would chair a committee to oversee international projects, which can include projects in our District on the US side.
Cluster Grant – The deadline for proposals has been extended to November.  Club Service Director Mel Groom is looking into the feasibility of our club presenting the Peru Water Project that Richard Taylor was approached about given the additional time to prepare.
b)    Dr. Ron Mergl Memorial Ride for Polio Plus – DG Frank provided an update on this event which will culminate in a ride from the Rainbow Bridge to the mouth of the Niagara River on both sides of the border on World Polio Day October 23, 2020.
Riders can register on a web site set up for the purpose of raising sponsorship moneys.
We have a developing story posted on our web site, as well as on the rotary7090.org site.  Please follow for more details.
We will need volunteers to assist with the event, more details to come.
Rotary Club of Fonthill riders are: Frank Adamson, Paul Snack, Mike and Nancie Taylor, Mel Groom.  If I have missed someone or if you are interested, please email info@rotarycluboffonthill.ca.

7.    Speaker: September Pod lead by Paul Snack.
Paul was joined by Angela Carter in introducing a new concept, or perhaps a revived concept, of varying types of activities in the community as an alternative to our traditional meetings.
The Meridian Community Centre will likely be reopening for meeting bookings mid-September.
Angela discussed an article that she wrote for the District 7090 September Newsletter that has been distributed to our membership.
Pod Schedule for September:
a) September 02, Planning Meeting
b) September 12, 9:30 am, Rotary Walk at St. Johns Conservation Area, together with the Welland club.
https://npca.ca/parks/st.-johns

c) September 16-20, Club Service Event is being organized to help Rotarian Meghan and her husband Alex with painting and other tasks in their new home in preparation for the arrival of their baby.  A signup sheet will be provided to club members for signup.
d) September 23, 7:15am, Board / General Business Meeting.  Planning is underway for this to be a hybrid meeting providing in person participation at the Meridian Community Centre (subject to availability) and Zoom for those who are unable or not prepared to attend in person.  More information to come.
e) September 30, 7:15am, Regular Meeting, Guest Speaker to be announced.  Paul Snack is confirming details.  This will be a hybrid meeting with in person and Zoom available.
Notes to Discussion
Pods need to engage earlier in planning so that sufficient notice can be given.  Ideally planning would be in place three months in advance.
Board meetings would be outside of the regular schedule and held once per month.  It was noted that it may not be necessary for the board to meet every month.
A review of our bylaws is needed to determine if amendments are needed to accommodate new event/meeting structure.

8.    September Birthdays: none
September Rotary Anniversaries: Maria (9/8/2017)

9.    Rotary Moment: Annie shared changes to the monthly magazine put out by Rotary International, which has been renamed ‘Rotary’ instead of ‘Rotarian’ in order to encompass various groups under the Rotary umbrella.
Happy Loonies: Annie
