Special Presentation - Greti Zsikla

Our exchange student Greti had the opportunity to describe her adventures during her year in Canada.

Greti began the year hosted by the Taylor family who immediately took her to Sault Ste Marie.  There, Greti experienced northern Ontario for the first time. She learnt to fish and paddle board.  She became really good at board games.

Greti stayed with the Kenney’s and had the opportunity to explore the Dominican Republic which where she went waterfall jumping.  She also experienced snow tubing in Montreal. All of these firsts were exciting opportunities for her.

Greti went on the annual trip to Algonquin Park and experienced winter in the north.  While staying with Angela she experienced living without power.

Greti's adventures at E.L. Crossley included joining the ski club and attending Prom in a beautiful dress which host mum, Mel helped her get through the Education Foundation Network of the DSBN.

Greti was also able to work on a quilt with the help of Jennifer Allen.

Throughout all of her experiences, Greti developed a solid belief in the power of Rotary.  It was clear from her comments and those of her host families that Greti became a daughter to each of the families and that strong bonds of friendship were formed.  Greti will leave shortly to return home with numerous memories and experiences to reflect upon.

The Club members and host families thanked Greti for her presentation and for her enthusiasm for our work.
