District Conference, October 20.
9 am-5 pm - lots planned for NOTL location.
Mel volunteered us to make No Sew Blankets via Melissa. Mel volunteered to head it up. All blankets will go to St Catharines Hospital Extended Care. Supplies are funded by Melissa’s budget.
We need records of deceased members – see Gail.
The conference is $100 and includes breakfast, lunch and dinner at Lion’s Park.

Paul Harris Evening, November 1, 615 pm at Lookout Point Golf Club. The cost is $55 for dinner (choices are salmon, pork and chicken) and $45 for vegetarian.
We have two (2) community recipients, Larry Boggio and Cathy Berkhout-Bosse as well as two (2) Rotarian recipients, a surprise.
There will also be the induction of Angela Carter if she is available that evening. We are also going to make Lyle walker an honorary member for his ongoing work and leadership this past decade on the technical part of the TV Auction.

Request from the Voice. Their new reporter, Jennifer Hormley, a previous Rotarian, would like to attend a meeting next week (26th). There was some discussion about purposely inviting the Press to attend a specific meeting where we wanted publicity versus the Press coming to any meeting without our agenda running the ‘why’ they were there. Carolyn reminded us that when you are there as press, you do not eat or drink. Since she’s a former Rotarian, we can allow her to be there next week but if she’s not there with interest to become a Rotarian, then any further visit is strictly as press and at our invitation.

Christmas Party is January 2 and it will be free skating for the kids. We need to think of after regarding refreshments, etc. We could contact Big Brothers Big Sisters. We have an agreement with town re use of rooms at MCC – free room rentals.

November has four (4) Wednesdays. 7th has a speaker, 14th has the Board Meeting for All, 21st has the Club Meeting, and 28th has a social.

Polio Day is October 24. Maybe get Jennifer, the reporter, to do something in The Voice for that week.

Fundraising Discussion. We took a look at Paul’s list and added a few things – Marathon Run (the Other Half of the Niagara Falls Half Marathon); Pancake Breakfast at other events; Bissell smaller event a possibility with Ed. We want to be able to use Mudfest sponsors/participant loyalty. We need to attach earnings to need. Mel would hate to lose the Mudfest momentum. Other possibilities include ‘crazy golf/ disc golf); Bob still looking at treasure box; Bob also looking at soap box; color run; guest speaker – UNESCO

MOTION: to Adjourn M/C Paul S/rest of us
