Students in Pelham will benefit from enhanced science programs next term thanks to a recent donation from the Rotary Club of Fonthill.

At its recent weekly meeting, President Carolyn Mullin and Past President Troy Killick were pleased to present a cheque for $1,500 Cdn to Michelle Butler, Regional Manager of Scientists in School.

Scientists in School is a Registered Charity established in 1989 to bring hands-on science enrichment to elementary classrooms under the guidance of visiting STEM role models in collaboration with teachers.  It has grown from its original community in Durham to currently providing programs across Ontario.  They recently expanded to providing programs in Alberta as well.

Their classroom, community and family workshops open the wonders of science, engineering and technology to everyone, foster environmental stewardship, and encourage children across Canada to discover the relevancy of science in their everyday world.

Funds provided by the Rotary Club of Fonthill will be used to provide programming in Pelham Schools.

Through our fundraising efforts, the Rotary Club of Fonthill is pleased to provide financial support to community groups located in Pelham or meeting the needs of the residents of Pelham.  Formal applications are received through our website and are considered twice annually in October and March.

Scientists in School submitted their application and were approved in March 2023.
